ABOUT  |  Media Options

The following options are presented from least to more expensive. With the exception of the MetalPrints and Wrapped Canvas, all prints will need to be matted and framed after purchase for wall hanging.

All prints are printed by Bay Photo on Kodak Professional Endura paper. These archive-quality papers are designed to last for generations.

Glossy

Coated paper with a very smooth, shiny, reflective surface. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and look slick to the touch when not under glass. This finish has an excellent dynamic range and color—slightly more "pop" than the matte paper, though less noticeable once framed. Photos will have a shiny finish, colors will be vibrant, and images will be crisp and sharp. Matte: Matte paper has a very smooth, non-glare surface.

Matte

Matte finishes have a lower contrast when printed and are often used to enhance the texture of a print. Matte prints are fingerprint and smudge resistant, and they work very well with black-and-white photos. Much less glare than glossy. Lustre: Lustre is our premier paper offering and is considered a professional-grade paper. Lustre has a slight gloss with a subtle, often pearl-like, texture.

Lustre

Lustre is our premier paper offering and is considered a professional-grade paper. Lustre has a slight gloss with a subtle, often pearl-like, texture. Lustre paper has deeper color saturation and higher contrast than matte and is materially "thicker," or heavier, than consumer paper. And none of the glare associated with glossy prints!

Metallic

With a glossy finish and unique metallic appearance, these prints have extra visual interest and depth. They are printed on long-lasting Fujicolor Crystal Archive Pearl Paper. This paper uses a proprietary combination of film laminate layers that produce striking, three-dimensional, lasting images on an ultra-bright background. The effect is sometimes described as "chrome on paper." You'll see extreme sharpness, brightness, and color saturation with an intense black density that increases its appeal. The proprietary laminate layers also increase the durability and tear resistance of the final print, increasing the opportunities for display applications.

ThinWraps

Beautifully Finished Float Mount Prints – No Frame Needed! Bay Photo video

First we make a print on your choice of Lustre Paper, Metallic Paper or Fine Art Canvas material. We then over-laminate the image with a soft Satin Laminate or a Glossy Laminate. The resulting product is then wrapped on Gatorboard, with or without a foam layer (Softop) in between the print and the board. For a striking effect, we apply a spacer (Float Mounting Block) to the back of the ThinWrap, which allows the image to be hung and appear to float from the wall.

MetalPrints

Printed directly onto a sheet of specially coated aluminium, Metalprints are highly durable, waterproof and scratch-resistant with vibrant colours and incredible detail. Each MetalPrint comes backed with a 3/4" (19mm) thick foam block that makes these stunning prints appear to float off the wall and are ready to hand without needing a frame. More details (inc video) from Bay Photo here.

MetalPrints come ready-to-hang with two 3/4" thick lightweight foam blocks and aluminum plate with pre-drilled holes. MetalPrints sized 30x40" and up are backed with an inset frame for added stability. When hung, these stunning prints will float off the wall.

Choose from High Gloss and Satin finishes.

Each print has rounded corners for your safety and the surface can be easily cleaned with any commercial glass cleaner.

Giclée Canvas and Watercolour Prints

Giclée Prints (pronounced "zee-clay") use high quality archival inks on fine art paper using a high-resolution large format inkjet printer. The premium inks produce images with smooth tones rich colours and a matte finish. Available in 2 paper surfaces: Watercolor and Canvas.Watercolour GicléeThe paper is a heavy 310g with a subtle texture, acid free, 100% cotton fibre and finished with a water-based protection spray and presents a 'painterly' quality.

Canvas Giclée

The Giclée process enables us to print directly onto museum-quality canvas material, so prints will not separate over time. Protective spray coating is applied to the surface of each print to help prevent scratches and other damage. Canvas prints are available in three different mounting options: Canvas Wrap, Canvas Stretch/Staple, and Canvas Board.

Canvas Wrap prints are a stylish, low-cost alternative to traditional framing. The print is wrapped around a stretcher frame so that 1 1/2" of the photo's edges are visible on the sides of the frame. They're delivered display-ready with hanging hardware attached.

Canvas Stretch/Staple mounting is a unique way to display your images like a fine art canvas. The print is stretched to the edge of a 3/4" thick wooden frame, and stapled around the edges, leaving the full image on the front. Perfect for framing.

Canvas Board prints are mounted onto sturdy Gator Foamboard, a very rigid foamboard and lightweight backing with a white finish.

Wrapped Canvas

The image is printed on a heavy duty PremierArt Water Resistant Canvas, then finished with a dry lamination process that is UV and water resistant. The canvas is stretched and then wrapped over a 1 3/8" (35mm) thick wooden frame. Your image extends to cover the sides of the frame. The image front image will not be cropped to accomodate the edge wrap.
